Serena Williams Shares Daugher's Reaction To Finding Out She Won Australian Open Pregnant

Serena Williams won the 2017 Australian Open while being pregnant with her daughter Olympia, and she recently broke the news to her.

It's been a while since fans last saw Serena Williams on a tennis court. We might see her again to play an exhibition event, but for all intents and purposes, the American has retired.

This next chapter of her life is mostly focused on her family and business, which has been a huge passion for her for a very long time. She also does media from time to time, and during a recent interview, Williams shared a funny story about how she told her daughter, Olympia, about the 2017 Australian Open.

It wasn't a conversation she initiated, but her daughter Olympia, who asked her mother why she was as famous as she was. Williams then told her about the famous major title win in 2017.

"Yeah, Olympia's now at an age where she's like, ‘Listen, I am wondering, why are you so famous?’ She was like, ‘You're a great tennis player.’ And so I told her the other day that she actually was in my belly when I won a big tournament [the 2017 Australian Open] and she was surprised. She's at an age now where I can kind of open up to her a little bit more."

Olympia even picked up the racquet a few times and practiced with Serena, but it doesn't seem like she will follow her mother in tennis for now, even though it's very early to tell.

While some former players lead their children to the sport, many also admitted that they wouldn't want their children to play tennis, knowing how difficult it is to keep up with the demands of the sport week in week out.
