Former coach of Serena Williams and 7x coach of the year winner Rick Macci praised Serena Williams on Twitter, comparing her to three superheroes as he did so.
The legendary 23-time Grand Slam champion is certainly near the end of her career. She is now 40-years-old, and even continuing to play to that age is an incredible achievement itself.
Williams' last major title was at the 2017 Australian Open, where she defeated her sister Venus in the final. The American then reached four more finals, but lost all of them, missing out on equaling Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slams in the process.
Macci is someone who knows both the Williams sisters well, having coached both of them. He has also worked with other high-profile players like Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova.
The well-known tennis coach made some interesting comments on twitter about Williams. He started by humorously saying that, although she was a natural, Serena and Venus would also go shopping each night.
"Serena meek Williams always had a natural throwing motion but most of all she and VW drained an entire public shopping cart each night. Greatness thinks out of the cart!"
Macci also reacted to a video of a 12-year-old Williams in action as a junior player. After watching it, he compared her to three different superheroes to emphasize how talented she was as a junior.
"Just saw the best shot-maker on the run ever in junior tennis. Just watched a video of 12-year-old SERENA MEEK WILIAMS. She flew from side to side like spiderman batman and wonder woman. She will be good someday."
Finally, Macci described how different Serena is off court compared to on court, and ended by labelling her as the greatest of all time.
"Serena was the nicest funniest happy go lucky smiling little kid I ever taught off the court. Serena was the roughest toughest most competitive little kid I ever taught on the court.GOAT!"
