Women's tennis has always had a certain level of parity but lately, we've seen several players step up.

The latest finals on the WTA Tour generally featured players like Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Elena Rybakina. The Madrid Open final between Sabalenka and Swiatek was the final between the number one player and the number two player on the rankings. It's a trend that's been going on this year with several players stepping up consistently.

The Melbourne final was contested between Sabalenka and Rybakina. The Indian Wells one was also Sabalenka against Rybakina. The Miami Open featured Rybakina as well and in Stuttgart, it was Swiatek and Sabalenka. It's been a consistent level from the top three ranked players in the race, and that's what the Belarusian thinks is important.

Well, I think that's something amazing. I think women's tennis need this kind of consistency to see world No. 1 and world No. 2 facing in the finals.

Great tennis is very important to keep tennis relevant as a tennis sport but storylines and rivalries are even more important. What makes the era of the big three so great is that it's not only three extraordinary players, it's their rivalries which amplify all of it.

The WTA has missed that for a while but this year we have it despite Rybakina playing it down recently. We have three players that are playing against each other pretty much on a weekly basis and Sabalenka thinks it's also more enjoyable for the fans as well.

Yeah, I think it's, how to say, it's more enjoyable for fans to watch and it's more intense. I'm not saying that it's not intense with the rest of the players anyway. If a player reaches the final, it means that he's in a good shape and it's going to be tough. But I think when people see these kinds of finals, it makes them want to see it, you know, like want to see this battle. That's something amazing, and hopefully we can keep doing what we are doing this season.
