Elena Rybakina is already a Grand Slam champion, but she's hungry for even more success at the major stage
Rybakina keeps on winning as
she sent her nation to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals on Saturday. However, she's also aiming to extend her winning to more Grand Slams.
The year began well in that regard for the Kazakhstani player. She made her way to the Australian Open final, in which she faced Aryna Sabalenka. Both players won a set in the final, but it was
Sabalenka who won the third one to lift the trophy.
Rybakina lost her unbeaten record in the Grand Slam finals, but she's eager to make a few more finals in the future and add more trophies to the Wimbledon title that she won last year.
It's been a whirlwind year for her in the past 365 days, and, as she revealed in an interview with the Kazakh publication Vesti, she's yet to fully grasp everything that happened, as the life of a tennis player has a very quick pace.
"Of course, it's not easy and everything that happened probably over the past year is quite a huge work of my whole team and in general, a huge experience for me."
The goal for Rybakina is simple. She wants to keep playing well and keep earning results the way she did so far. That includes winning more trophies, especially Grand Slam trophies, and climbing to the top of the WTA Tour.
"In the future, I'll try to keep the same bar, improve my game, progress in all aspects. I hope that I will be able to achieve and win some more Grand Slams. So I hope that everything will work out according to plan."
Playing back home in Astana on clay gave her a soft launch into the clay season, and she will make use of her two good wins to get things underway properly in the coming weeks. The next Grand Slam is the French Open and she will certainly be on the ballot of potential winners there.
