Amanda Anisimova is one of the lucky athletes that can make living by doing what she loves and she recently opened up about her beginnings.

The 21-year-old American finished the season as world no. 24 already in 2019 as a teenager. Back then she also played her first Australian Open and made a name for herself as she reached the fourth round, where she eventually lost to Petra Kvitova.

"The first time I played the Australian Open, I reached the fourth round, so it was very special for me," Anisimova said. "I think the most complicated part about tennis is not knowing whether you'll make it or not. Just the unknown of whether you'll become successful."

Three years later, she played a two-time Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka and defeated her before losing to the eventual champion Ashleigh Barty. Remembering the match, she confessed:

"To play Naomi for the first time, it's unreal, honestly. My favorite quality of mine that I always try to work on is that I will always put up a fight no matter what. I love playing in front of Australian fans. It's just so fun out here. I absolutely love it," she added.
