Coco Gauff talked about how her family handles the finances after her first-round win at the 2022 San Diego Open.

Gauff currently competes at the WTA 500 event in San Diego. While spending time in the city, she also got to enjoy Twitchcon, and met some of her favorite creators.

But once it was time to step onto the court, Gauff was business as usual, and she easily beat her compatriot Robin Montgomery 6-3, 6-3.

After the match, the teenage American also talked about different topics than her tennis. Her family is in a relatively unusual situation. A teenager is the highest-earning person in the household, which is not something usual.

However, despite being a millionaire, Gauff admitted that her parents still pay for some of her expenses and that they also pay their own bills.

"I still don't pay my cellphone bill and Netflix. I do pay for Disney+. I don't pay any bills either at the house. My dad and my parents pay our bills, I guess. And I don't even pay for my hair, my mom pays because I don't carry cash, so I have to get the cash from her."

Gauff also had a message for those suggesting that she has to pay for everything in her parent's household. She said that they have their own jobs, which is why they can take care of themselves.

"Yeah, honestly, people always say that, some people think that I actually pay for everything in my household and think that my parents are like pushing me to do this. I'm like 'No'. Everything they pay for themselves."
"My dad had a great job, and we owned some properties. So they're able to take care of themselves and us. And I guess the only thing that I do pay for is my brother's Uber Eats bill because my parents refused to pay for that, and I'm like, 'Don't worry, guys.'"
