Iga Swiatek feels lonely at the top of tennis as the WTA Rankings have her almost with double the number of points as the number two.
The Polish player dominated her way around the Tour this year ever since Ashleigh Barty retired but it has very little to do with her retirement. She simply played at a historic level almost winning 40 matches in a row. It doesn't matter what kind of era you play in, that's impressive. The new WTA Rankings paint a fairly clear picture of that with Swiatke nearly having double the points of the 2nd highest player.
That player is Anett Kontaveit and she trails the Polish player by 4000 points. It's not unheard of but it's not common either. Number 3 is Maria Sakkari with Paula Badosa at four. Ons Jabeur is 5th, Aryna Sabalenka is 6th, Jessica Pegula is 7th and that's a new career-high for her.
The rest of the top 10 is filled out by Danielle Collins who is 8th, Garbine Muguruza who is 9th and Emma Raducanu is 10th. If you want to know who ranks lower than that, then check out our dedicated WTA Rankings page.
