Iga Swiatek wins 2022 Stuttgart over Sabalenka

Iga Swiatek extended her winning streak by one more match as she added another trophy to her 2022 tally by smashing Aryna Sabalenka 6-2, 6-2 in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final.

The Polish did not play her best tennis at this WTA 500 event, but she certainly showed up in pristine form in the final, taking down the third-seeded Sabalenka 6-2, 6-2. It was a very solid effort from Swiatek, who controlled the match from the beginning.

There were no serving woes like in her previous match; she did not rush or make consecutive errors of any kind. She just showed why she's currently the top-ranked player on the WTA Tour and why she will likely remain on the top spot for the weeks to come.

She was greatly aided by her Belarusian opponent, who played her worst match by far all week long. Sabalenka never found a rhythm, never started serving as well as against Paula Badosa, and generally played a terrible match from start to finish.

Swiatek was able to create enough pressure when returning, forcing her opponent to step outside of her comfort zone. It was a similar match to the one in Doha earlier this year, in which Swiatek also won in straight sets, but this time, she was even more dominant.

The key stat for Sabalenka was her first serve, as she hit it only 51% of the time, and that's not good enough. On top of that, she has been thoroughly outplayed in rallies, and that's a quick recipe for a disaster, which it ended up being.

For Swiatek, it means that she has now extended her winning streak to 23 matches and also won her fourth consecutive title. Her win streak looks more and more impressive with every match that she plays, and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
