Iga Swiatek Set To Enter Top 10 In Weeks Spent As World No. 1 On WTA Tour

Iga Swiatek has been world number one since last year and she's going to be world number one for a few more weeks officially entering the Top 10 in weeks spent as number one.

Swiatek's rise to number one didn't come as a surprise to many but the manner in which she did it surprised a lot of people. She basically started dominating the WTA Tour in the early parts of last year becoming world number one in the process.

Her domination continued for a while as she kept adding to her tally throughout the year. She's yet to lose that number one rank even though her results this year haven't been on the same level as last year. She lost quite a bit of her points but still has enough to maintain her number one rank ahead of Aryna Sabaelnka who almost dethroned her at Wimbledon.

The Belarusian would have been number one in the world had she beaten Ons Jabeur at Wimbledon but she didn't despite being only two games away from the triumph. Due to that Swiatek maintained her number one rank for now as she's set to keep it for a few more weeks.

Sabalenka likely won't play until the Canadian Open next month which makes it impossible for her to actually overtake Swiatek who will be in action in Warsaw next week. Those three weeks that Swiatek will spend as the top player in the world will push her to number 10 on the ranking of most weeks spent as number one in the world.

Caroline Wozniacki is currently number 10 with 71 weeks as number one while Swiatek has 68. With those three weeks, she'll sit at 71 as well being tied 10th on the list with Wozniacki. Next up would be Lindsay Davenport who spent 98 weeks as number one.
