After winning the 2021 US Open, Emma Raducanu expected a very difficult season and it proved to be a really challenging year for the teenage sensation.

19-years-old Emma Raducanu played 28 matches this year and won 13 of them. It was her first full season on the WTA Tour and she's still visiting some tournaments just for the first time in her career. Therefore, many things were new for the youngster and despite not winning any title this year so far, she sees only positives ahead of her title defence at the 2022 US Open.

"I think I have actually improved as a player," said Raducanu. "I achieved something great last year but I was just playing completely free and I am starting to do that again. I feel like I am heading in a good direction again. I’m proud of how I did this week and it’s a great step forward."

"It’s great to have the exposure to these sort of opponents," said Raducanu. "Every match at this level, I figure out what works and what doesn’t. I now feel more confident in what I’m doing."
