Former American great Tracey Austin has spoken highly of young compatriot Coco Gauff, predicting that the rising star's maiden Grand Slam triumph would likely come in the near future.
We've seen such great improvement in her game. I think the fans and the media and maybe even Coco for a while were in a big hurry. But now, I think she recognizes that it's tough to break into top 10. She's now No. 6. Tough to get that first Major under your belt. Coco Gauff's tennis story so far has been an exceptional one. Having one her first ranking WTA title at the scarcely believable tender age of 15, she has continued to be a mainstay presence on the tour ever since.
With a superb breakthrough tournament at Wimbledon in 2019, Gauff caught the attention of the tennis world and has not failed to live up to the huge expectations around her. She has risen to the within the top 10 all before the age of 19, collecting three titles on the way.
The only major hurdle she has to overcome is the first Grand Slam win. Venerable expert of the game Austin believes that this biggest of milestones is not far away for the young American.
