Gauff Has To 'Keep Adding Elements To Her Game' To Challenge Likes Of Swiatek & Osaka

Coco Gauff is a Grand Slam champion, but she wants to add more, something famed coach Rick Macci could see happening, but she'll need to improve.

The state of the WTA right now is quite interesting. On the one hand, there is Iga Swiatek, who is clearly above the rest of the field, but plenty of other players are capable of challenging.

Marketa Vondrousova won Wimbledon, Gauff won the US Open, and Aryna Sabalenka won the Australian Open. Despite being above the rest, the Pole didn't dominate the Grand Slam level, so it's pretty wide open right now.

There are several players capable of winning one, and Coco Gauff is certainly capable of doing so. She'll need to add to her game because other players are improving, and she's behind Swiatek in terms of experience.

That's why according to noted tennis coach, Rick Macci, the field right now is wide open, as he talked about it during the recent exclusive interview with Tennis Infinity.

They think it's wide open, simply because, other than Iga, not a lot of people have Grand Slams in their pockets, and that's a huge thing when you have that Novak experience in your back pocket. Just like Osaka, she has four of them.

Macci on Swiatek's experience advantage

Swiatek and Gauff played since the US Open, and the Polish player easily won that match, which shows that Gauff still trails the Polish player in many ways.

If she keeps adding elements to her game, she'll certainly close the gap, and she'll need to if she wants to add more Grand Slams to her tally.

The best is yet to come for Coco, but she's gonna have to keep adding little elements to her game and especially modify the forehand. But I love Coco Gauff and she has just as good a chance as anybody on any surface, except maybe clay where Iga I think is by by far the leader in the clubhouse.
