Empty Schedule: Kasatkina Criticizes WTA's Lack of Second Half Season Calendar

Daria Kasatkina scored a huge win over former Roland Garros finalist Marketa Vondrousova at the 2023 Roland Garros.

Kasatkina has been a really solid player for a while now but this year hasn't been that good for her overall. Clay is her comfort surface so her scoring a big win at Roland Garros isn't surprising but it was important for her confidence.

The Russian never lost her positive attitude which she's known for opting to keep working and hoping for the best. It worked wonderfully today as she showed amazing tennis en route to a straight sets win over a good player.

It was very physical. We were pretty tired already in the middle of the first set, and I think we showed pretty good level of tennis today, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Yeah, it's always nice to win matches like that, and I'm happy with the level.

Kasatkina on the match

The Russian had a really good second part of the year last year ending up at the WTA Finals so the hope is that she can do it again. Planning for that part of the season hasn't been easy though as she revealed that the WTA hasn't given them the calendar yet making it impossible for players to determine which events they will play.

No. Unfortunately, no. We're still waiting for the calendar for the second part of the season. No idea. Yeah, I also want to know why it's taking that long, but we don't have an answer.

That's quite unfortunate for the players but luckily Kasatkina knows what her next month will look like. She'll be glad to be back at Wimbledon as the event is allowing Russian players to take part this year after being very disappointed about missing the event last year. Hopefully, the calendar comes soon because fans would enjoy that too.
