Anisimova To Make Top 50 Return After Brilliant Canadian Open Run

Amanda Anisimova is enjoying a wonderful week at the 2024 Canadian Open in Toronto as she booked her maiden WTA 1000 final, which will enable her to return to the Top 50.

Anisimova has played big matches before, so making a final at the WTA 1000 event is just another natural step in her career as a super-talented tennis player. It's certainly the biggest trophy she can win, and there is a decent chance that she will do it.

The American has been playing superb tennis this week, beating some impressive players such as Aryna Sabalenka en route to the final. Her level is the best we've seen her play since returning to the sport earlier this year.

Her efforts in Toronto have earned her 650 points, and it pushed her up 83 spots on the rankings. As a result, the 22-year-old will certainly make a return to the Top 50.

Making the final at the Canadian Open already ensured that, but she could jump even further all the way to the Top 40, which would almost be a jump of 100 spots, as she could rise all the way up to the World No. 36 position.

Returning to the Top 50 is a milestone for the American. Due to her inactivity in 2023, the American slid down quite a bit on the rankings. She began last year at number 23 in the world but slid down to 370th, finishing the year at number 369.

That was all due to inactivity, as she was taking a break from tennis, which obviously helped her tennis. She didn't play spectacular tennis in 2024 before going to Toronto, but she has certainly looked way more motivated as a player.

This year, she dropped to the World No. 442 position when more of her last year's points dropped, but slowly but surely, Anisimova worked her way back close to the Top 100.

She wasn't in the Top 100 before the event in Toronto, as she began this week at number 132. This run at the Canadian Open will now push her back into the Top 100 and also into the Top 50, giving he a great chance to soon fight for seeding spots at Grand Slams, which further increase her chances of climbing up the rankings.

This ranking will also allow her to enter the other events later this year, which should help her get closer to her career-best ranking of 21, which she achieved several times in her career. If she keeps playing like this, the American is very likely to enter the Top 20 for the first time in her career.
