Tennis phenom Mirra Andreeva is out of the 2024 Australian Open, but she knows what her schedule moving forward will look like, and she shared it.
The 16-year-old was having a very good week in Melbourne, winning a couple of matches in impressive fashion. Chief among them was the win over Ons Jabeur 6-0 6-2, which created shockwaves, but problems soon arose for Andreeva.
She barely beat Diane Parry in three sets, 1-6 6-1 7-6(5), and that foreshadowed what ultimately happened in the next match against Barbora Krejcikova. She battled bravely but ultimately couldn't do much as she was beaten in three sets 6-4 3-6 2-6.
It was a disappointing ending for Andreeva in Melbourne, who will be carefully crafting her schedule moving forward. She was actually asked about her schedule in the upcoming weeks, and the Russian confirmed that she knows her next events.
"Yeah, the next tournament for me is going to be Doha and Dubai. I will try to play all these main tournaments. I cannot play all of them, but I chose the ones that I really, really want to go to."
She has experience in the Gulf as she played in the World Tennis League ahead of this year and did pretty well as part of the winning team.
This will be a bit different as these events, the Qatar Open and the Dubai Championships, are WTA Tour-level tournaments, but her recent level proved that she should have no problems.
"The next tournament is going to be in Doha. I'm very, very excited to go there for the first time, to play there. Yeah, so the next tournament is Doha, Dubai."
When it comes to the rest of the year, we'll have to wait and see, but it will likely include the bigger tournaments, however, she won't be allowed to enter all of them, as at 16, she can play only 12 tournaments a year.
