2023 Japan Championships WTA Entry List - Tomljanovic, Fruhvirtova, Tsurenko & more

The 2023 Japan Championships will be held from September 10th to 17th and it's a WTA 250 tournament held in Osaka, Japan.

The event is not to be mistaken for the popular Japan Open, which is held in Tokyo, but also the tournament in Osaka has a lot to offer. The Japan Championships was last held in 2019, and back then, Naomi Osaka won the tournament. However, the Japanese player just recently started her comeback after pregnancy, and she will certainly not compete at the tournament.

However, even in Osaka's absence, the tournament still managed attract some interesting names, especially from the Asian region, as this part of the season gives a great opportunity to the players from this part of the world to showcase their qualities in from of the home crowd.

Lesia Tsurenko signed up for the event ranked at 42, highest from all players before wild cards. Along the Ukrainian, Lin Zhu is another player to watch out for. Peyton Stearns is a rising star of the American tennis, and she will also compete at the tournament, attempting to be a contender to reach the later stages of the competition.

Young Czech player Linda Fruhvirtova will also be one to keep an eye on as she's among one of the rising teenage stars. But fans will also want to see Ajla Tomljanovic, who spent the majority of the 2023 season sidelined and will finally want to get some wins behind her belt in Osaka.
