Some of the players on the WTA Tour didn't have the best lead-up to the 2022 US Open and so they will try to fine tune their form at the 2022 Cleveland Open.
The tournament that is also called Tennis in the Land will be played from the August 21st until 27th in Cleveland, Ohio and many good WTA players will enter the draw of the WTA 250 tournament played just one week before the start of the fourth Grand Slam of the season.
Last year, Anett Kontaveit defeated Irina Begu in the final and Sara Sorribes Tormo and Magda Linette were the semifinalists. The 2021 champion is the only player missing in the draw of this year's tournament and the other three players will try to defend their points this year.
Barbora Krejcikova is the first-seeded at the 2022 Cleveland Open and the 2021 Roland Garros champion will try to boost her rankings at this event but she will face a difficult first round as Anastasia Potapova will stand in her way.
The 2020 Australian Open champion, Sofia Kenin will also take part at the tournament and the American player will kick-off her journey in the first round against a qualifier. Martina Trevisan is the second-seeded in Cleveland and the Italian will play her first match against Mayar Sherif.
Some interesting first-round matches include the clash between Dayna Yastremska and Alizé Cornet and also Ekaterina Alexandrova and Lauren Davis will take care of an interesting first round match.
