Spanish tabloid newspaper, Semana, has caused some consternation among Rafael Nadal fans as they publish private images of his new-born baby on their front page.

The pictures then reached a much wider audience after being shared on social media, leading many tennis and Nadal fans to voice their outrage on the platform.

Some users were quick to point out that this is a private moment at what is likely to be a highly stressful time for the family, and were not happy to see these so publicly released and shared around social media.

"I’m a little uncomfortable seeing these, feel like their baby should have privacy. They haven’t released a photo yet", said one user.

While another user posted, "Rafael Nadal has asked for privacy so many times that the less we can do, is to respect him. Don't you think you could do it? He deserves it. It would be nice if you delete this tweet. Just to respect a great champion who asks for a private space".

However, it should be noted that others were delighted to see the images. But the overwhelming response, quite correctly, was that this is a private moment and images should not be shared.

The 14-time French Open champion is next due to play at the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, starting next week. It is one of the very few big titles that has so far eluded the Spaniard in his illustrious career.

Following that, he is due to go on an exhibition tour with this year's Roland Garros and US Open runner-up, Casper Ruud, as part of his off-season preparation.

Nadal last played at the Paris Masters, where he suffered a surprise first-round defeat to Tommy Paul of the USA, with an unexpectedly poor display on the Parisian hard courts.

He will be hoping to rectify this with a strong showing in Turin to end his 2022 season.
