Coco Gauff continued her winning streak at the 2025 United Cup, easily overcoming even the talented Karolina Muchova.

Gauff had a perfect start to her 2025 season, winning two round-robin matches against Leylah Fernandez and Donna Vekic before also outplaying Shuai Zhang in the quarter-finals of the United Cup.

All of those matches were played in Perth, and for the final four stage of the United Cup, Team USA, as well as Team Kazakhstan, had to move from Perth to Sydney, where the semi-final and final ties are played.

It's certainly a disadvantage compared to the teams that have competed in Sydney since the start of the competition. Not only did the Americans have to travel from one side of the country to the other, but they also had to get used to the new conditions.

For Gauff, that didn't seem to be an issue. She beat Muchova in three of their previous meetings without losing a set, and it seems that she really likes to play against the Czech player, as she was dominant on the court again.

Gauff started with a hold of serve, and she broke Muchova's serve right after that to lead 2-0. She then confirmed the break with a hold and added another break to lead 4-0 before once again confirming the break with a hold of serve, and the scoreboard suddenly showed 5-0.

It was a flying start into the match from the 20-year-old player, and at 5-0 and 30-0, it looked like she would end the first-set proceedings very quickly. However, Muchova avoided a first-set bagel despite having to face two set points on her serve.

The Czech player held for the first time in the match, and she even threatened to break in the next game. Muchova had two break points, but Gauff remained solid, holding her serve to win the first set 6-1.

The second set proved to be a real challenge for Gauff. She broke first, leading 2-0 after also holding her serve, but Muchova was determined to break back, while the American player didn't great many break point chances.

When Gauff led 3-2, she had to save a total of four break points, and miraculously, she did. A couple of games later, at 4-3, the American player faced three more break points, but this time, Muchova converted her seventh break point of the set to level the score at 4-4.

The Czech delight didn't last long, as Gauff had a brilliant end to the match, winning eight of the last nine points, breaking Muchova's serve again to win the match 6-1, 6-4, giving Team USA a 1-0 lead against the Czech Republic.

In the men's singles match, Taylor Fritz will want to send the United States into the final of the competition against Poland. He will take on Tomas Machac, who, on the other hand, will want to keep his country in play and force the deciding mixed doubles.
