Emma Raducanu and Madison Keys are among the players who will play at the 2025 Queen's Club Championships.
A WTA tournament will return to the Queen's Club for the first time since 1973. In the past, there were both ATP and WTA events held in London ahead of Wimbledon, but in the past five decades, only the men's event was held at the Queen's Club.
That will change in 2025. The tournament will be held under a new sponsor, which is why its official name is the HSBC Championships. The event will be of a WTA 500 category and it will run from June 9th until 15th.
Although it's still months away, the first players were already announced for the tournament at the Queen's Club. Naomi Osaka was the first player announced for this historic edition of the tournament.
Now, the former WTA World No. 1 learned three players she could possibly play against, as the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) announced three new players who joined the player's field.
Home fans will be delighted to see Emma Raducanu. The British player enjoyed some success at Wimbledon over the years, making it to the second week twice.
She will certainly be among the favorites at the WTA 500 event, and she also won't be the only British player competing at the event. Katie Boulter was also among the players who were announced.
Boulter spoke about competing at the Queen's Club, and she admitted that winning a trophy in front of her home crowd would be a dream come true.
"I used to watch the tournament every year growing up, so to be able to compete at such a wonderful, historic, and iconic event to commence the grass court season is an honor."
"We have some of the best women’s players in the world competing at Queen's, and it takes the British grass court swing to a whole new level. To win that title as a British player would be an absolute dream, and I will do everything I can to get myself in that position. Let’s make more history this summer."
Another player who joined the field is Madison Keys. The American player won her maiden Grand Slam trophy this year when she triumphed at the Australian Open.
During the summer, she will try to match her success also on the grass courts. Keys is one of the players who had success on the grass courts before, and she will hope to repeat it at the Queen's Club.
"I can’t wait for the HSBC Championships. Getting to compete there for the first time and experience playing at The Queen’s Club is going to be such a special occasion. I love the grass court season, some of my favourite memories of my career have come when I won titles in Birmingham and Eastbourne."
