Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal showed an incredible level of respect for each other ahead of the 2022 ATP Finals.
The final ATP event of the year is running from November 13th until 20th and only the eight best players have a chance to participate in it. This year, also the ninth highest-ranked player in the ATP Race got a chance to compete after the World No. 1 player, Carlos Alcaraz, withdrew from the tournament.
Ahead of the 2022 ATP Finals, the tournament organizers prepared an interesting video in which all eight finalists sat in one room and asked each other different questions.
The first question was about what quality players admire in someone else from the room, and it didn't take long before Nadal started talking about one of his greatest rivals, Djokovic.
The Spaniard admired his rival's professionalism, especially when it comes to controlling his own body. That's something Nadal had struggled with in his career, as he's often been injured.
"I think I have to say to Novak, he's able to be super professional, to control his body, to hold the passion, doesn't matter how things are going, he always keeps going till the end, and that's something very difficult, especially in a super long career after all the success. To keep having the passion and love for the game, I think it's something that I admire a lot."
The Serbian quickly responded to compliments from his rival as he named what he admired about the Spaniard. Djokovic was happy to be part of this great rivalry, which pushed him to become better.
"I'm really privileged to have the rivalry that we had over the years, I think we respect each other a lot and we push each other to the limit and kind of motivate each other to go even higher, so it's great to be part of that there."
