Alexander Bublik enraged the Metz crowd after demonstrating that he doesn't really care about the final he was playing with a very interesting shot on a crucial point.
On Sunday, Bublik faced Lorenzo Sonego in the Moselle Open final, and he decided to play a point with the handle of the racquet rather than the actual racquet head. Bublik did not instantly lose the point but he ultimately did lose it with the crowd erupting in boos.
As he was getting ready to make the shot, some laughs broke out, but he was too busy laughing on the bench after the game to give a damn about the boos or anything else. When it is clear that he won't win a match, Bublik is known to turn his match into an exhibition event and while some fans like it, others think it's unprofessional.
The Kazakh was losing at that point so it's not a surprise he opted to go for it. Eventually, he lost 6-7(3), 2-6 to Lorenzo Sonego who lifted his third ATP title. Previously, Bublik hinted that playing tennis isn't something that excites him too much, when he said:
"I like staying in a bed and enjoying the view. Not staying here but yeah. Don't you guys like the same. Nobody likes to go to their job."
