Jannik Sinner has been incredibly good on the tennis courts recently, and according to the former Roland Garros champion, it's time for the big trophy.

Francesca Schiavone should be a name recognizable to most tennis fans. It's not been too long since she's not played tennis. The Italian retired in 2018 after 20 years in the sport, and it was a pretty good career.

She won the Roland Garros in 2010 and went on to win seven more trophies in singles and a handful of trophies in doubles. She peaked at number 4 on the world rankings, the same spot that her compatriot Jannik Sinner occupies, and she played her best tennis generally on clay.

She knows tennis, and she thinks it's time for the young Italian to win a Grand Slam. The Italian certainly impressed lately especially in the final weeks of the season with the ATP Finals and Davis Cup runs.

Beating Djokovic twice in basically 10 days is pretty unheard of, but it demonstrated him reaching a new level of tennis and maturing as a player.

For Schiavone, it was a clear signal that he was getting closer to winning a Grand Slam. During a speech at the Coni Lombardia Awards, Schiavone mentioned Sinner.

Seeing the Davis Cup raised to the sky and knowing that we are the strongest men's national team in the world is a great pride. Sinner has just started his growth by entering the top five in the world.
Today the time has come to reach the top not only to be able to become number one, but to bring home a Slam. Because winning it I think is the thing more beautiful and exciting for those who practice this sport...

He's well on his way to becoming the greatest Italian tennis player of all time and winning a Grand Slam would certainly cement that, even more so if he wins a couple. The belief in Italy is there.
