'Tennis Is In Good Hands': Djokovic Heaps Massive Praise On Alcaraz After Riyadh Loss

by Zachary Wimer

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz played an exhibition match in Riyadh, and the Spaniard won, earning praise from his opponent.

The exhibition match was a pretty interesting one that went to three sets, so the crowd got their money's worth. We saw highlight plays, some exciting rallies, and Alcaraz ultimately winning the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup after dropping the first set.

Djokovic wasn't too mad with the loss, showering his opponent with praise, admitting that tennis is in very good hands, with Alcaraz leading the pack of the new generation of young players slowly taking over tennis.

Like most of us, Djokovic is impressed with what he's achieved, so as the world number one puts it, tennis is in good hands.

I've seen him on the internet you know. I've seen videos of him when he was probably 12 years old and already winning tournaments you know. But it's impressive you know, for such a young age what he has achieved. He's a very humble, very nice guy. His father, very nice family, great values, his team and all.

It's fantastic to have him in our sport. He is one of the leaders of the sport today and defeinitely he's goin to carry this game in the future. In the next 10-15 years we'll see a lot of him so tennis is in good hands.

This match was not official, and it's not part of the 2024 season, but we can basically count it as their first clash in the new season. It's impossible to gauge how badly either wanted to win it, but they didn't hold back too much.

The court played exceptionally fast, which might have helped Alcaraz unleash his power. We won't see that fast of a court again in the new season, so the matchups should be more balanced.
