Sinner Demolishes Medvedev In Riyadh To Set Up Djokovic Showdown At Six Kings Slam

Jannik Sinner outplayed Daniil Medvedev once again, this time at the 2024 Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Some of the best tennis players in the world are currently in Riyadh for the Six Kings Slam, which is held during the Riyadh Season. While the ATP Tour moved to Europe, the best stayed in Asia, and while the first match didn't deliver a spectacular battle, it delivered an incredibly dominant showing.

Sinner recently won the Shanghai Masters title, and on his way to the title at the ATP Masters 1000 event, he beat Medvedev. It was their 14th match, and after the Russian won the first six matches, the Italian managed to level the H2H to 7-7.

Although this match wouldn't count towards their official H2H, it would certainly play a significant role in their upcoming clashes when it comes to mindset and mental advantage.

Looking to gain that mental advantage in the future, Sinner played an incredible match. He was almost unstoppable in the first set, dominating on his serve while complicating his opponent's return.

While three games of the set were dominated by the reigning World No. 1, the other three were proper battles, but that didn't matter in the end, as Sinner won them all to win the opening set of the match 6-0.

It was a brutally thrashing set win, and certainly one that Medvedev will remember in their upcoming clashes. Trying to turn the match around, the Russian player did everything he could in the second set, but Sinner was just too good.

The 23-year-old broke his opponent's serve twice, despite having 10 chances to do so. In only an hour and 9 minutes, he was able to finish the match, winning it 6-0, 6-3 to seal the semi-final spot. After the match, Sinner didn't hide his excitement.

"It was a very good performance, considering that I arrived only a couple of days ago. I was looking to come here, it's a special place. It's something very, very new. We're some of the best six players in the world, so I hope you will enjoy also the next match. Thanks so much for coming!"

The World No. 1 player was also asked about the reception in Saudi Arabia, as it's his first time in the country. So far, he had only positive experience, and that was obviously boosted by his quarter-final win at the 2024 Six Kings Slam.

"The first impression was that all people are very, very lovely, they care of us, so we're very, very happy to be here."

The 23-year-old Italian player will play Novak Djokovic, whom he beat in the Shanghai Masters final, in the tournament's semi-final,

By winning the quarter-final match, Sinner ensured himself that he would play at least two more matches in Riyadh. Traditionally, if he wins the semi-final match, he will play in the final. But if he loses, he will play in the third-round match.
