Sebastian Korda poses a big threat to other favourites for the title at Wimbledon this year, says Patrick McEnroe.
The rapidly rising American star has had an excellent start to the year so far, making the final in the ATP 250 event in Adelaide, pushing Djokovic to three sets in that final. He also reached the quarter-final at the Australian Open, before unfortunately succumbing to injury in that last eight match against Khachanov.
Korda's clean, attractive style of play has gained numerous plaudits, most notably from Novak Djokovic himself, who called the American's game "beautiful".
Patrick McEnroe too has been impressed. Speaking on his 'Holding Court with Patrick McEnroe' podcast, the tennis pundit explained that he believes Korda could be one to watch at this summer's Wimbledon Championships.
Wimbledon, you gotta think Fritz, he was there last year, you gotta think Shelton to be dangerous if he gets used to the bounce when you're playing on grass for the first time. Paul, I mean he's got a solid... he takes the ball early, could be good. But, I think Korda... I mean, to me, Korda is a guy like 'wow'. If he could put it together, we'll see how the wrist is, haven't heard any updates on the wrist injury that he suffered against Khachanov. But, if he can add a little more meat to the bones, get a little more pop on the serve, I know we have talked about that. I mean, he looks to me like a guy that's a legit threat at Wimbledon.
Former coach of Andre Agassi, Brad Gilbert, has also been very impressed with what he's seen from Korda.
The bigger guys, they don't play huge tennis. Korda's kind of in that range, but I do think if he had a bam of a serve, that would really elevate his game instantly. He should definitely be a top 5... top 3 player if he had a big serve.
