'Screw You, Ben': Tiafoe Makes Hilarious Comment During Houston Trophy Ceremony

Frances Tiafoe may not have won the title in Houston, but it did not stop the American from showing his sense of humor.

It had been a difficult start to the season for Tiafoe on hard courts in the opening months of the season, with the 26-year-old's level very inconsistent and patchy in the tournaments he played in.

The 2022 US Open semifinalist found form at his opening clay court event of the season in Houston. Unfortunately for him, Ben Shelton outplayed him in the end in the final to claim the title.

Tiafoe's tennis always entertains the crowds he plays in front of. But he is also a very engaging personality. A recent example of this was Tiafoe opening up about his childhood struggles during an interview with Nick Kyrgios.

He spoke bravely in that interview with Kyrgios, but Tiafoe is also known for his humorous side. This was shown once again when Tiafoe addressed his team in the ceremony after his Houston Open final loss to Ben Shelton.

Tiafoe expressed disappointment that he was unable to win a fourth ATP title in Houston but also was hopeful that he and his team would kick on and have a strong 2024 after their efforts in Texas.

However, it was his remark about Shelton during these words to his team that generated the most attention, with the fans inside the stadium laughing loudly in response to Tiafoe.

"I mean sucks we couldn't get it done. Screw you Ben, but, yeah, it would have been cool to get number four. We'll get that soon enough. Let's just really build on this and let's have a good 2024."

Tiafoe's words were also met with laughter by Shelton. The two clearly have a good relationship and it is nice to see that dynamic after the two battled in a final.
