Reilly Opelka shared his thoughts about the current world no. 1, Novak Djokovic, sharing his thoughts about the Serb.

The American who is currently away from the sport due to an injury has spoken openly about many topics he feels are important including those that are not really that popular. He famously called for doubles tennis to be removed among many other things.

He's also a fan of Novak Djokovic and the way he speaks out about things that he feels are very important which is something Opelka does too. In a recent episode of the Tennis Channel's Inside-In Podcast, Opelka praised Djokovic for being willing to do that exclaiming that that's what makes him ultimately the greatest player that has ever lived.

"People like criticizing Novak. He has applied those concepts that he has in life like him having the courage to just take a stand, not play both sides of the coin like how his peers do and just face things head on is the reason why he is the undisputed greatest tennis player that has ever lived."

Opelka is not wrong as Djokovic does speak his mind quite often even when it goes against popular sentiment. He never succumbed to the pressure of getting vaccinated believing strongly in the notion of free choice.

His legacy has been directly impacted by that as missed multiple events during that time, some of which he could have surely won. That's something that Opelka respects at a time when most players don't want to 'offend' anyone.

He puts himself on the line and I respect that, part of it because the media has never given him a fair share because like I said, he doesn't play into what they want so he's the enemy of the tennis media. Most players are super grateful for him, he's a pro's pro, he really is.
