Diego Schwartzman played a solid match troubling Novak Djokovic at times but he simply could not produce a complete effort in this match losing 1-6 3-6 3-6.

The Serbian player once again demonstrated the ruthlessness of his tennis by beating a solid player when he played quite well without doing too much. You never got the sense that Djokovic was playing this ridiculous unplayable level that did not have weaknesses. He showed plenty in this matchup but Schwartzman could never fully use it.

He had 40-15 on Djokovic's serve early in the 2nd set but completely fell apart after that. Djokovic won the opening set with ease 6-1 as Diego committed 18 unforced errors in 7 games. That's more than two per game and that's simply not good enough. The 3-0 start in the 2nd set was very good from Schwartzman it did not last long enough.

Djokovic broke back to make it 2-3 and saved two break points to make it 3-3. He then went on to win the next three games as well winning the 2nd set 6-3. It was a reverse bagel for Djokovic who won six games in a row. Schwartzman was fairly decent in the final set as well but once again Djokovic outplayed him in the most crucial rallies and that proved costly 6-3.
