Stefanos Tsitsipas always underlined the importance of popularizing tennis in Greece as his goal, as he wants to see it grow in the future.

Tsitsipas grew up loving tennis, but it's not something many of his countrymen share. The country is a sport-loving nation; however, that's mostly reserved for football or basketball, which are far more popular than tennis in Greece.

Even so, the sport is experiencing a growing popularity thanks to Tsitispas and Maria Sakkari, who have been among the best players in the world for a while now and showed it also at the 2024 United Cup, where the Greek player spoke about growing the sport in the country.

He's always spoken fondly about his country and wants to see the sport grow, underlining it as one of his dreams. To see it through, he's devised a plan to be executed in the coming years.

Personally, I have a plan, which I want to implement in a few years from now. I don't expect anything from the federation, they won't be responsible for it, it's a personal matter and something I want to create in the next few years.

Tsitsipas wouldn't reveal much about a project, but it was pretty evident that it was something he cared about deeply. He's been very outspoken about the bigger picture lately, focusing away from his individual accomplishments and more so on the legacy part, which initiatives like this one demonstrate.

Of course, in this project, Maria is also welcome... For me it is a passion and it has nothing to do with money. I am passionate about the development of tennis in Greece and I hope in the future I will find the time because it is something that has been on my mind for the last few months.

It's a noble goal from the Greek player who is certainly the right person for the job. The country never had a player as good as him and with that comes great responsibility.
