Sebastian Korda is back to playing amazing tennis as the American is in the Cinch Championships semi-final following some good wins this week.
Korda missed a lot of time this year due to injuries which is a shame as he began the year spectacularly at the Australian Open. The American made a return on clay but didn't play that well losing early in most events including the French Open.
The return on grass happened at the Cinch Championships this week and it's been a very good experience for him so far. He won the first match and since then added more wins including one over Cameron Norrie which sent him to the semi-final of the event.
Winning certainly boosted his confidence and he made a comment which caused some fans to wonder whether he misspoke. The American claimed that he sees himself as one of the favourites for Wimbledon which raised some eyebrows. He was asked about it following his win over Norrie and he walked it back a bit unsure of what he was thinking when he said it.
No. I don't know where that came from really. I'm pretty kind of just laid back (smiling). I don't know what I was probably thinking. Just kind of hyped up on the match that I played.
Korda is a very good fit on grass with his powerful serve and overall style of play which is very aggressive and attacking. He's certainly a dangerous player at the event, especially if plays the best way he can. Being able to just play tennis is a blessing for Korda after he dealt with several injuries in his career.
You know, it's always a privilege kind of being in the position that I'm in. I have a big game, and, you know, I love playing on grass. So who knows what could happen, but I think one of the biggest things is to kind of have confidence in yourself and just to believe in yourself. I think those are the two biggest things that I can do for myself.
The American finished off with Who knows what's going to happen? Who knows indeed.
