Holger Rune was once described as being obsessed with tennis but there is something else he loves to do and that's sleeping.
The Danish player is a professional athlete and it's very important for him to as it gives his body the proper and necessary recovery. Described by Tsitsipas as someone 'obsessed' with tennis, Rune spends a lot of time playing tennis.
Whether it's matches on the ATP Tour, practices or something else Rune literally lives for tennis. Due to that, he needs time away from it, and most of that time is gladly spent sleeping. He was asked about his sleeping habits after his win over Olivieri at the 2023 Roland Garros and he confirmed they are pretty intense.
Yeah, I sleep a lot. I love to sleep. I probably sleep around, I don't know, 9 to 13 hours if I can. It's a lot (laughter). I really like it. I think it's the best recovery that you can have. You know, I actually think the muscle relax, everything relaxes when you sleep, so I try to, you know, every time I can sleep. Then when I'm awake I'm fully awake, yeah.
It's been working out well for him so far as his dramatic rise in tennis is just proof of how much he works on his craft. He recently beat Novak Djokovic in Rome which is very hard to do and he also made his way to the final there.
It was a losing effort against Daniil Medvedev but still a valuable experience ahead of this year's Roland Garros. It's been going well so far for him in Paris as he was already tested at the event but passed that test comfortably. Now it's about building on that level and seeing how far he can go on the Parisian clay.
