The 2024 Laver Cup will be held in Berlin, and it will be the first one Carlos Alcaraz will participate as the Spaniard was confirmed as the first player for next year's edition.
After not being able to play in previous years, Carlos Alcaraz will finally make his Laver Cup debut in 2024. Federer has spoken about his wish to see Alcaraz wear the European blue, but it simply never worked out.
It will be next year as the Spaniard became the first player to commit to the event in 2024. It's a pretty early commitment from the Spaniard, but it makes sense.
Team World bested Team Europe in the previous edition of the Laver Cup, which featured one of the weakest teams to date. We knew they would come out with revenge next year, especially since the event will be back on European soil in Berlin.
The announcement was made via a press release that featured quotes from both Team Captain Borg and Alcaraz. Alcaraz called it an honour to represent Team Europe in the competition.
I appreciate Captain Borg’s confidence in me, and I look forward to teaming up with my rivals in both singles and doubles in Berlin. It means a lot to represent Team Europe at Laver Cup, this is a great honor.
The announcement also featured a video that shows Alcaraz wearing the European Blue, and it looks like a pretty good fit for the Spaniard. In the video, Alcaraz also spoke about the event, adding that he hopes to bring the trophy back where it belongs, at least according to him.
As always the event will be held in September, which isn't the best spot in the calendar, but expect a pretty good field next year, certainly one better than last year.
