Andy Murray has received the joint-highest amount of ATP wildcard tournament entries since 1990 after the British player agreed to play at the 2023 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Murray has now gained 53 wildcard tournament entries during his career and it is the joint-most any player has received alongside former player Tommy Haas, who retired in 2017. Because he is currently 61st in the ATP rankings and outside of the world's top 32, Murray has relied on wildcard entries to recent tournaments, including the 2023 Australian Open.

Murray was scheduled to play at the Rotterdam Open next week but the former world number one withdrew from the tournament to recover from his third-round run at the Australian Open.

The British player eliminated world number 13 Matteo Berrettini and Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis in Melbourne and he spent 14 hours on the court across the two matches. Eventually, Murray was knocked out by Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets.

Three time Grand Slam winner Murray won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship in 2017 after he beat Fernando Verdasco in the final. The former world number one also played in the event in 2022 and will hope to improve this time around after a second-round exit to Jannik Sinner last year.
