Andreescu To Make Massive 65-Place Rankings Jump Despite Disappointing Final Loss

Bianca Andreescu had a good run at the 2024 Libema Open, making the final, and she's going to jump 65 spots on the WTA Rankings as a result of her run.

The Canadian missed most of this year with injuries, as her first event was the recently concluded Roland Garros. We hadn't seen her before because she was busy preparing to return to full health, which she did, and it showed.

A few solid outings in Paris were followed up by a strong week in the Netherlands, where she made the final at the Libema Open. The run included wins over players like Naomi Osaka, which is quite notable.

Unfortunately for her, she couldn't win the trophy as she lost to Liudmila Samsonova, who was able to turn around the final match despite losing the opening set.

It was unfortunate for Andreescu, who hasn't lifted a trophy since that incredible 2019 campaign when she won the US Open, among other titles. The final in Den Bosch wasn't meant to be for her, but her work was not in vain, as a jump on the WTA Rankings will reward her efforts.

She will certainly be happy about it because the main issue for many returning players is entering the tournaments, as there is only a limited number of tournaments that they can enter using their special ranking.

Her run in Den Bosch earned 113 additional points on the WTA Rankings, which is good enough to jump 65 spots to number 163 with 456 points from the previous world no. 228 position.

Of course, that's not where she wants or deserves to be, but it is going to be a long journey. If her level remains as good as it's been so far, she should get back to the Top 50 very quickly.
