Tournament organizers and governing bodies of tennis often get a lot of criticism from players, but not this time, as Holger Rune praised them.
Attracting fans to attend tennis tournaments may be a bit more difficult than in other sports. The Tour travels all around the world, so it's difficult to have those fans that return to every match, as that is impossible for the majority of the fans.
Therefore, organization of every single tournament is important to attract as many fans as possible, and according to the latest numbers, it seems that organizers of ATP tournaments succeeded in doing that.
According to the ATP, a total of 5 million fans visited ATP Tour events in 2023, with 22 of them recording their all-time high attendance.
"5 million fans! This season saw record attendance at 22 ATP Tour events. And with more days of Masters 1000s action under #OneVision, we welcomed more of you than ever before."
Rune is currently competing at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, which isn't ATP's tournament, but having played many of those in 2023, he knows a lot about how they're organized.
The Danish player took to social media to praise tournament organizers, saying that not only players but also fans are made feel good, since the venues where the tournaments are played feel safe, while providing a lot of fun and chances for interaction.
It's often the interaction with players that many tennis fans seek, and that's why it's so important for organizers to make that possible at their venues.
"I think the ATP tournaments do an amazing job here. Not only for the players to feel good but also for the fans. The venues are well organised, they are safe, a lot of fun and there are great interaction with fans and players. And exciting tennis! Looking forward to 2024."
