Alcaraz Expects 'Djokovic Spirit' At Roland Garros And Proof 'Why He’s One Of The Best In History'

Carlos Alcaraz expects Novak Djokovic to play at a really good level at the 2024 Roland Garros despite not having the best season so far.

This year's French Open has the potential to be one of the best majors in recent years. It's wide open right now, with many players who could potentially go all the way.

Jannik Sinner and Alcaraz are the biggest favorites on paper, but they will be coming off complicated injuries, which will likely impact their performance.

Other players like Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Andrey Rublev have all won ATP Masters 1000 trophies on clay this year and will certainly fancy their chances.

Daniil Medvedev can't ever be discounted, and neither can Casper Ruud, who has already played in two finals in Paris before.

Obviously, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are legends who have both won this event multiple times, but both have struggled with their level so far this year. Even so, Alcaraz expects them to do well, especially Djokovic, who has repeatedly proven it in recent years.

"Probably he’s not playing his best tennis, he’s not winning tournaments, but he’s able to play Roland Garros and win it. Novak has that talent, not winning tournaments for a year and then the big moments, the big tournaments, he’s able to win and to show his best tennis, and everybody thinks, ‘How is that possible’? That’s the Novak Djokovic spirit and that’s why he’s one of the best in history."

Given all the storylines, it should be a really great Grand Slam as many players will battle for that trophy. Everyone has a chance to grab the trophy, including veterans but also young players, who are certainly eyeing another major in their collection and the scalp of the legendary players.
