Alcaraz Crushes Yet Another Opponent To Set Up Quarterfinal Clash With Zverev In Melbourne

| by Erik Virostko

Carlos Alcaraz is into the 2024 Australian Open quarterfinal, and he reached it in dominant style, after beating Miomir Kecmanovic.

In his third-round match, the Spaniard had to spend only a little over an hour on the court, after his opponent was forced to retire after two sets. However, his fourth-round match was expected to be a bit more challenging.

But that was far from the truth as the 20-year-old dominated the match from start to finish, never leaving fans at the Rod Laver Arena in doubt about the result of the match between a Serbian and Spanish player, similar to what many would like to see also on Sunday.

The world no. 2 got a break already in the third game of the opening set, winning it 6-4 as a result without facing a single break point, and hitting four aces in the first set.

In the second set of the match, Alcaraz once again broke his opponent and didn't face a single break point, so once again, it was an easy 6-4 win and a 2-0 lead for the Spaniard ahead of the third set.

The third set was the most dominant from the two-time Grand Slam champion, as he lost only three points on his serve, while breaking Kecmanovic every single time.

Alcaraz won the third set 6-0, and the match in three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 to set up a quarterfinal clash with Alexander Zverev, who had to spend more than four hours on the court in his fourth-round match.

The Spanish player will be hoping to have a physical advantage over his opponent, similarly to his match against Kecmanovic, who was coming off a difficult five-setter.
