The 2023 Croatia Open in Umag is an ATP 250 clay-court event and it will offer 562,815€ in prize money.
Running from July 24th to 30th, the tournament in Umag, Croatia, will welcome players that missed the clay-courts during the short but intense grass-court part of the season. Over the past two years, the event was marked by presence of youngsters.
In 2021, it was won by Carlos Alcaraz, and in 2022, Jannik Sinner stunned the Spaniard in the final. Neither of them will compete in 2023, but it will be another member of the so-called NextGen Big Three that will be the top name at the event, Holger Rune.
After his two fellow youngsters won the tournament in the past, Rune will surely want to add his name to the list of champions. He leads the entry list for the 2023 Croatia Open in Umag, but on the way to the final, he can meet even Grand Slam champions.
The likes of Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, and Marin Cilic are set to compete at the tournament, but also more talented youngsters will join the Dane as Jiri Lehecka and Lorenzo Sonego also appear on the entry list.
They will all be competing for the champion's trophy but also prestige and 250 ATP points along with 85,605€ awarded to the champion of the tournament. If they want to increase their points total in the ATP Rankings, getting past the first round is a must, as the earliest possible exit offers only 6,035€ in prize money and no points.
On the other hand, for making it to the second round, players will be awarded 20 ATP points and 9,880€. Four losing quarterfinalists will get 45 points and 17,010€, while the semifinalists will surely be happy with 90 points and 29,355€.
