The 2022 Japan Open will be held in Tokyo from October 3 through 9 and will include some of the top athletes fighting for their share of ranking points and prize money.
John Millman lost to Novak Djokovic in the event's previous championship match in 2019. Daniil Medvedev defeated home crowd favorite Kei Nishikori the year prior in 2018, while other players that triumphed in the Japan Open in Tokyo earlier in their careers include David Goffin, Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka, Kei Nishikori, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and many more.
This year, likes of Casper Ruud, Nick Kyrgios and Frances Tiafoe will compete at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo as they will all eye the top prize of 500 points and $365,275. However, the finalist also gets more than a usual champion at ATP 250 event so there's certainly a lot to play for.
Just for getting into the second round, players get 45 points and $26,095 and the reward gradually increases as all four players that lose in the quarterfinals get 90 points and $49,515. Two defeated semifinalists are awarded 180 points and $94,840.
