Sinner Forgets Australian Open Glory Ahead Of Indian Wells Challenge

Jannik Sinner hopes to write new chapters in a very good 2024 campaign so far as he puts the Australian Open triumph behind him.

Sinner is a very interesting character because he's a very humble person. The Italian is always pretty straightforward and, quite clearly, focused only on his tennis. He's enjoying his best season to date, with a 12-0 record heading into Indian Wells, but he's still focused on improving and getting better.

It's one of the things he enjoys most about tennis, being able always to set new goals and chase them. He spoke about that ahead of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, explaining that he's not really thinking about his Australian Open trophy but more so about adding the Indian Wells trophy to his cabinet.

"I think tennis is a good sport because you can always set new goals. It doesn't really matter what kind of title you win. The next week is a good week and a good opportunity to do again something great."

Sinner hopes to achieve a lot this year. Besides winning as much as possible, he also wants to improve his ranking. He's ranked third in the ATP Rankings right now, which is not the number he wants to be at, and he's going to work on changing that.

"In my mind, I know that there are some important points for me to have a better ranking. This kind of motivation just keeps pushing me and of course, even more importantly, it's to become a better tennis player throughout every week."

"So we will work. It doesn't matter what the result is in the tournaments, we will keep working and hopefully I can get to 100 per cent in every single department."

Sinner will certainly want to remain undefeated after this event, too, but that won't be an easy task, starting against Thanasi Kokkinakis. He's not really concerned with that but more so about improving as a player weekly, but staying undefeated would certainly be a sign of improvement.
