Iga Swiatek can't stop winning in 2022 as she added yet another win, this time beating Jessica Pegula in three sets.
The young Pole will certainly finish this year as world number 1 and she's without a doubt WTA Player of the Year. Moreover, Iga Swiatek is growing her fan base all over the world. At the 2022 San Diego Open, she played against home player Jessica Pegula in the semifinals and after three sets, the Pole booked her spot in the final.
Despite leading 4-2 in the first set, Pegula, who qualified for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles, turned the score around and won the first set 6-4.
However, Swiatek showed why she's world no. 1 and won the following two sets 6-2, 6-2 to record her 63rd match win in 2022. She also reached her 9th final and will try to win her 8th title as Barbora Krejcikova is the only player to stop her from winning title this year.
After the match some fans asked the young Pole to gift them her racquet, and she hilariously responded: "Sorry I need them." Yet, she still tried to make them happy and gave them her match-worn sweatband.
