There are plenty of those who are concerned about Emma Raducanu's results on her comeback, but she's not one of them.
Raducanu has played a few events so far and has glimpses of her signature play at times, but for the most part, it was quite clear that she needs to play many more matches to get to her peak form.
The Brit even passionately lamented after one of her matches about struggling to play the way she knows she can. The comeback continues in Indian Wells where a wild card entry granted her a spot into the WTA 1000 event, which can help her improve the rankings.
It's going to be an important and interesting tournament for Raducanu because she had some good moments in Indian Wells in the past. Her first-round opponent, qualifier Rebeka Masarova, is certainly playable.
She's not particularly concerned with her play recently, which is good because she'll need confidence and belief to turn things around, and she opened up about it ahead of the tournament to BBC.
"I want to work on becoming a better tennis player. I think for me I'm not too concerned about this year's tournaments. A lot of people out there would say that I need matches, but I think that for me I want to work on my game and development."
It seems that Raducanu is not interested in playing lower-tier events on her comeback, which might actually be good for her. Ultimately, she knows herself best and will do what she thinks is best.
"Taking time to do that is very necessary and not just following the crowd, or playing a lot of matches, or dropping down [to Challenger level] to do that. I want to work on developing skills."
After the Indian Wells Open, the former US Open champion will play also at the Miami Open, for which, too, she received a wild card.
