Iga Swiatek on track to match another Serena Williams' milestone

The 21-years-old Pole is collecting titles, records and milestones everywhere she goes and soon she may match many tennis greats that used to compete on the WTA Tour.

Without a doubt, Serena Williams is one of the most accomplished players in the history. The 23-time Grand Slam champion achieved almost everything a player may wish for and so it's not a surprise that Iga Swiatek is often compared to the 41-years-old American that played her last professional tennis match at this year's US Open.

Previously, Swiatek became the first woman since Williams in 2014 to have more points as WTA no. 1 than her colleague on the same spot from the ATP Tour. The young Pole also surpassed length of the winning streak records held by Williams sisters and she's looking to beat or match even more records.

Since Swiatek became world no. 1 on April 4th, no one got even close to dethroning her as she currently has almost 6000-point lead in the WTA Rankings. That means, that since becoming world no. 1 for the first time, she held the spot already for 30 consecutive weeks, something only three more players managed to do before.

When Steffi Graf became world no. 1 in 1987, she held the spot for a total of 186 weeks and set a record that may never be matched or broken. The second longest streak after becoming world no. 1 for the first time is held by Martina Hingis who stayed on top of the rankings for a total of 80 weeks.

Serena Williams, who was number 1 for a total of 319 weeks throughout her career climbed to the highest rank back in 2002 and stayed there for 57 weeks. Currently, Swiatek is only 28 weeks away from jumping over Williams in this stat and given that she leads by 5780 points, it seems that she won't be dethroned anytime soon.
