Ons Jabeur contested her 3rd Grand Slam final at Wimbledon on Saturday, and once again, she lost the match.
Ons Jabeur has a very big dream, but she can't seem to get it done no matter how hard she tries. After she defeated Aryna Sabalenka to book the Wimbledon final, many assumed that she would have enough to defeat Marketa Vondrousova, who was superb at this event but still looked vulnerable.
The Czech player, however, had other plans, and despite starting the match shaky, she was able to outperform Jabeur when it mattered the most to win her maiden Grand Slam trophy. It was a devastating loss for Jabeur, who has now lost all three Grand Slam finals she played.
Ididn't play good. I didn't think I played good today. So many things that I should have maybe done. Not serving well did not help. Also Marketa returns every ball. Even if I did a good serve, she was there. That didn't help my serve much.
Jabeur started well but she certainly didn't play well as her opponent started to turn around the match. It's a tough one for Jabeur because she genuinely looked ready to win a Grand Slam with the way she came back and won against Aryna Sabalenka.
Even with all the remorse she felt after the match, Jabeur still gave credit to Vondrosouva, who played as if she won 10 of these trophies before - ice cold.
My backhand wasn't here today. Again, I think playing two different players the last few matches did not help, too. Yeah, I don't think I played good, as well. But that doesn't take away the match that Marketa did.
Now it's back to the lab for the Tunisian, who has plenty of WTA points to defend in New York as she played in the final last year. Perhaps it's meant to be in the country where dreams come true.
