Garbine Muguruza has been away from tennis for a while but she's spent some quality time with family dropping the news in an interview.

Garbine Muguruza has been struggling with tennis for a very long time posting a 12-17 record last year. After a lacklustre start this year and multiple pullouts Muguruza announced a break from tennis with her season record standing at 0-4.

Her ranking has been dropping for a while with the Spaniard ranked outside of the top 100 having not played since January. She might make a return at Wimbledon with her name on the entry list for the event but we'll see if she pulls out.

An update on social media some time ago confirmed that she'll likely extend her break into the summer which would include the grass season and Wimbledon. She didn't confirm it specifically but it appeared that way.

Spending time with family and friends and it's really been healthy and amazing so I am going to lengthen this period till summer.

She hasn't spoken about any imminent return but in a recent interview, the Spaniard did confirm that she got engaged to longtime boyfriend Arthur Borges. The wedding is planned for the summer of next year in her native Spain.

We would like it to be next year, in the summer, near the beach and in Spain, because it is the place that most unites us.

It's a happy time for Muguruza who is seemingly enjoying her time away from tennis judging from her social media. She spent time back home in Spain with her family and friends while also enjoying quality time in Geneva where she lives with her partner.

It's unclear what her plans are regarding tennis as she hasn't spoken about it but whatever they end up being, it will be a fresh start. Since announcing her break, Muguruza also parted ways with her coach so her return will be likely with a new team.
