2022 Transylvania Open Cluj WTA Draw with Bouchard, Krejcikova, Yastremska & more
Following the success of the event last year, the WTA Tour will be back in Cluj-Napoca from October 10 through October 16 for the 2022 Transylvania Open.
The finalists from last year, Simona Halep and Anett Kontaveit, will not compete this time around. The absence of their best player, who ended her season early, will undoubtedly make Romanian fans upset. Although, fans at the 2022 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca were looking forward to seeing the 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, who has Romanian roots, they won't as she also withdrew from the event due to an injury.
Therefore, the draw is led by Barbora Krejcikova, who is the only Grand Slam champion in the draw. The Czech player will begin against Dalma Galfi and she will be one of the biggest favourites to triumph in Romania.
But there will be one player that everyone will want to see on the court, 2014 Wimbledon finalist, Eugenie Bouchard. The Canadian returned to courts again and she got a chance to compete in Cluj-Napoca. In the first round, she will meet the second-seeded Anhelina Kalinina and so it will be a difficult challenge for former world no. 5 from the first match.
