From September 12th until 18th, players that didn't go far at the last Grand Slam of the season will meet at the 2022 Portoroz Open as the entry list features some interesting names from WTA Tour.
The 2021 US Open champion, Emma Raducanu received a wild-card for the event and she will be one of the players to watch at the 2022 Portoroz Open. The event returned to the WTA calendar last year after an eleven-year break and this year, also last year's champion, Jasmine Paolini appears on the entry list.
But the tournament will feature many more interesting players. Beatriz Haddad Maia, who won 44 out of 62 matches that she played this season, should be the highest-ranked player in the draw.
The Brazilian won two WTA titles this year and she will try to add her third in Portoroz but she will face a fierce competition from two Grand Slam champion, Elena Rybakina and Barbora Krejcikova who will also compete in Slovenia.
The entry list then also features Martina Trevisan, Alize Cornet and Bernarda Pera but also two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist in 2022, Ajla Tomljanovic and so fans in Portoroz will witness some high-quality tennis. Kaja Juvan is the only Slovenian on the entry list, but more are expected to get wild-cards or enter through qualifying.
