Alexander Zverev proved to be the better player in his quarter-final match at the 2024 Miami Open, ousting Fabian Marozsan.
Fabian Marozsan is a very interesting name in the world of tennis. Prior to his quarter-final match at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, the Hungarian had a better win rate than Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
He reached the quarter-final in Shanghai, and now, he played also in the quarter-final of the Miami Open, but his opponent was quite challenging, as Zverev was once again proving that he's in a very good form.
The German started the match better, breaking his opponent's serve in the third game, and after that, he even managed to save a break point in game number six, keeping a one-break advantage.
On top of that, the fourth seed was able to add one more break to win the first set 6-3, and keep his perfect set record at the 2024 Miami Open.
The second set was much close. This time, both players had one break point in the first fives games, and both failed to convert it into a break, which meant that the set headed into the tie-break.
Zverev was up 6-5 when Marozsan served to send the set into the tie-break, and he even had two game points to do so. But the Hungarian didn't use his chances, and one match point was enough for the German to win the match 6-3, 7-5, and reach the 2024 Miami Open semi-finals, in which he will be facing very challenging opposition.
With Zverev in the semi-finals, three of the top four seeds are now in the semi-finals of the Miami Open, as Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev are set to meet, with only one spot left, and for that, Carlos Alcaraz will play against Grigor Dimitrov.
