Arthur Cazaux had a really tough moment during the 2024 Miami Open qualifying, as he fainted during the match.
The 21-year-old French player had a sensational start of the season. First, he won an ATP Challenger tournament in New Caledonia, thrashing all of the competition along the way, including four of his compatriots.
After that, he made it to the fourth round of the 2024 Australian Open, stunning Holger Rune along the way. He also played in Montpellier and Dubai, where he had decent results, but after that, he lost three of the following four matches.
Still, Cazaux signed up for the 2024 Miami Open qualifying and taking on fellow compatriot Harold Mayot, whom he beat at the ATP Challenger event in New Caledonia, where he won his first title of the new season.
The first set didn't go well for Cazaux, as Mayot was the better player, breaking his opponent twice, and despite losing one of them, Mayot was still able to win the opening set 6-4 and establish a one-set advantage.
However, Cazaux fought back despite losing 4-5 in the second with his opponent serving for the match. He won three consecutive games, winning the second set 7-5.
He started well also in the third set, breaking early and leading 2-0 after winning five consecutive games, but that's when things started going in the wrong direction for the world no. 74.
He was first broken and lost the one-break advantage, and in the following game, when his opponent was serving at 30-30, with Cazaux having a chance to get to another break point and regain the lead.
But that was when he collapsed out of nowhere, and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair. Naturally, Cazaux was forced to retire from the match, sending Mayot into the next round of the qualifying, but that was his last worry at that moment.
